All You Can Plant

A building and planting festival for the Freiimfelde district in Halle! For one week, workshops, presentations and participatory activities enlivened the district and the community park. From a permaculture workshop to a car-free day on the main street, everything revolved around green and sustainable living in the city.

As part of the research program “Green Urban Labs” of the BBSR, the “All You Can Plant Festival” in September 2018 offered a colorful program for all residents of the district Halle Freiimfelde. With the help of an international work camp and cooperation partners from areas such as urban gardening, upcycling, urban development and science, a wide variety of activities for all age groups could be realized.

For the grand finale – Parking Day – a street was closed to car traffic for one day. A flea market, a children’s theater, a soccer tournament, a break dance show, a mobile photo studio and many other small activities briefly transformed the street into an urban living room for everyone. The festival offered diverse insights into the countless ways we can make our streets and cities more sustainable and livable.
